Canadian Marin dealer Velo la Shop downhill race team rider, Shawn Riel, met up with Mad March Racing instructor and Marin rider Tamara Peloquin at Ray’s Indoor MTB Park in Cleveland, Ohio to kick off the new season at the park. Shawn drove down from Ottawa for his first trip to the already legendary Ray’s. Yes, Ottawa as in Canada and it’s about a 9 hour drive. However, according to Shawn it was well worth it and he’s already planning his next trip! Here’s what he had to say regarding his first impression of the park “I wasn’t sure what to expect and was blown away by the quantity of things to ride and the quality of how everything is built, as well as the diversity of riders.” Read more »

WANTED: SHAUMS MARCH, last seen on a bubba green Marin Wolf Ridge in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
The Marin Bikes and Mad March Racing New Mexico REI/IPMBA tour kicked off in Albuquerque with 5 or so shop visits first on the agenda. Lots of Marin demo tours and group rides to enjoy and help me get a feel for New Mexico. This area has plenty of great riding plus lots of other cool and secretive things like Area 51. I met one guy, who was heading to Area 51 to get a little “mental tweaking” as he called it, and he was excited about it! Hmmm, I know it takes all kinds but with all of the police officers here for the IPMBA conference (International Police Mountain Bike Association www.ipmba.org) he better watch out. Read more »

Women’s Weekend at Ray’s Indoor MTB
On Friday, Feb 20th something out of the ordinary, some might say extraordinary, happened in Cleveland, OH at Ray’s MTB Indoor Park. Over 100 ladies, from all around the US and even Canada, arrived at Ray’s MTB bright and early for the second annual DIRTRAG Women’s Weekend. So, what brought all these female riders out to Ray’s MTB? Two coaches from Mad Marching Racing(Gale Dahlager & myself, Tamara Peloquin) and professional female riders (Tammy Donahugh, Nadia Steinbrecher, Darcy Turenne, Stacy Mulligan and Nina B) were on hand giving free skill clinics throughout the day. They worked with the ladies one on one, covering everything from bike basics to skinnies and jumps. Not only did the ladies get to learn from and ride with some of the best female riders out there, they also had the park all to themselves for the day, free munchies and lunch, and lots of cool schwag from the sponsors. Jackie Baker was also there from FreerideFoundation supporting the event and giving out coupons, you know the ladies loved this as most of us like to shop as much as we like to ride. The energy level was off the hook as the ladies progressed their skills, made new riding friends, and basically just went off railing the skinnies, practicing on the pump track, and hitting the drops and jumps. The lessons and fun fest didn’t stop on Friday either, as most stayed all weekend long to coach and ride. Read more »
