When it comes to slope style and big hits, Andrew Taylor is in a class unto himself. Marin’s high flyer, who rides an Alcatraz and Attack Trail, recently sent me this little video clip of him pulling a massive air off one of the stunts at this year’s Winterpark, CO Crankworx event. I was scared and puckered up just watching his roll in on a corkscrew feature, let alone the gargantuan gap he clears. Check out this short GoPro clip of AT gettin’ er done! When it comes to our new Quad DH, a bike that boasts 250mm of travel, I feel like a proud papa showing off  his newborn. I soak up  the attention and never get tired of talking about it, especially when others are doing the talking for me! If you been riding long enough, you’ve probably had a bike stolen. It’s the worst feeling to have any kind of ride snatched away from you, but when AT opened up the Marin van to grab his sweet, custom Alcatraz two months ago to prepare for a jump exhibition at the Portland Bicycle Show he was gutted to find it missing. Ever the professional, he grabbed a display bike and cranked on to complete the show, but he was left without the beloved bike he dialed-in to hit this summer’s jump competitions and events. The day started just like any other December Saturday. Cold and cloudy morning skies looked down at an empty parking lot. As time progressed bike riders flowed in off the surrounding streets and sidewalks one by one; slowly circling to keep warm. From a quick glance the scene could have looked like any other Saturday gathering of bike riders, but upon a second look the riders looked a bit different. Instead of a group of flashy carbon road bikes or high tech full suspension bikes, riders were mounted on a wide array of two wheeled transport. Hybrids, tattered fixed gears, muddy mountain bikes, long replaced road bikes and a few bikes that looked to be re-enlisted for duty after being retired to hang in the garage were all thrown into the chain-driven mix. Among the hodge podge of bike and rider was one common sight. Storage. Racks, messenger bags, back packs and milk crates; all present with empty cargo holds for yet to be declared items that would  be carried by human power. Read more »

Canadian Marin dealer Velo la Shop downhill race team rider, Shawn Riel, met up with Mad March Racing instructor and Marin rider Tamara Peloquin at Ray’s Indoor MTB Park in Cleveland, Ohio to kick off the new season at the park. Shawn drove down from Ottawa for his first trip to the already legendary Ray’s. Yes, Ottawa as in Canada and it’s about a 9 hour drive. However, according to Shawn it was well worth it and he’s already planning his next trip! Here’s what he had to say regarding his first impression of the park “I wasn’t sure what to expect and was blown away by the quantity of things to ride and the quality of how everything is built, as well as the diversity of riders.” Read more »
