Marin Bikes at Sea Otter – Day 1

By Mike Gore on April 19, 2012 with No Comments

Today was the first day of Sea Otter, the annual bike race/expo in Monterey, California.

Racing started slowly today with a few early-morning road races and dual slalom qualifying for non-professional racers. The Marin booth was busy showing 2012 bikes, while our legendary mechanic, Gravy, turned the wrenches for our racers.

Chris the young ripper

While our XC squad trickled into town, gravity rider Chris Ravina had dual slalom qualifying in the heat of the midday sun. His custom Rift Zone XC7 was tricked out with fresh rubber from WTB. After a sick first run, Chris got the blue track for his second run. Certainly a faster track, Ravina was tearing apart his competition until a crash in the middle berm.

Keeping a level head, he got up and beat his competitor to the line, qualifying in 12th.

Tomorrow the action heats up, with more sun expected. Factory Team racers will be tackling events from single-speed xc to downhill here at Laguna Seca.

Our booth (370) will be open from 9 a.m. to closing time for fans to come check out the new Quad Link 3.0 suspension system or chat with our race team.

Keep it posted to the Marin Blog and Facebook page for the latest race results and photos from our team once the dirt starts to fly!
