The Mount Vision C-XM9 features Fox's top of the line Factory Kashima suspension, SRAM's XO 2x10-speed drivetrain which includes SRAM's award winning XO carbon crankset. Full internal routing for all cables and housings, including internal routing for the KS LEV Integra dropper post. Easton's Haven 27.5 tubeless wheels are DH strong, but XC light, and are wrapped with Schwalbe's Evolution Series Nobby Nic 2.35" tubeless tires.
Newer frame layouts designed to maximize the inherent benefits of 27.5-inch wheels, which combine the speed and stability of 29-inch wheels with the agility and acceleration of classic 26-inch mountain-bike wheels. 27.5" wheels allow a clearly different riding feel than 26" or 29" frames and bikes. This platform blends the features into an true all around Mountain Bike that satisfies the needs of many different riders. It has some of the rolling efficiency of 29ers, but coupled with the more robust and stiff feel of 26" wheels.
Rear-hub axle standard featuring a 12mm-thick through-axle that, while stronger and stiffer than a standard quick-release, still allows for easy removal of the rear wheel. The 142mm standard maintains the standard 135mm chainline, but adds a 3.5mm shoulder to each side of the rear hub. This shoulder shares the load of the rear wheel with the rear 12mm axle, rather than placing the full load of the rider on the axle alone.
FRS DownTube Rock Shield
A custom-molded polyethylene shield for full-suspension carbon-fiber bikes that protects the frame from impacts and works as a secondary cable-management device
Integrated BB Guide System
Modular, interchangeable accessories for the bottom bracket that can be set up to have an ISCG-05 interface, or a chain drop backplate for either a double or triple crankset. Made from forged then CNC'd 6061 aluminum, each accessory part is both lightweight and strong. In the case of the ISCG-05 adapter, heavy impacts will sacrifice the adapter, and save the frame from damage.
A new suspension system replacing pivot bearings with continuous-fiber carbon-monocoque flex points, which work with a shock linkage to control big-hit capabilities. Specially engineered carbon-fiber seatstays isolate three degrees of deflection to a specific area and eliminate an extra pivot point, thus maximizing stiffness and reducing weight in the IsoTrac suspension system. The rocker link provides a progressive leverage ratio to the rear shock, though not as progressive as our Quad-Link system. Each rear shock has been tuned for the IsoTrac leverage ratio, maximizing pedaling performance and mid to late stroke terrain management. Torsional stiffness built into the swingarm construction effectively keeps the rear wheel inline with the centerline of the frame, so the rear wheel stays exactly where you put it in every corner, over every rock. The IsoTrac system runs on Enduro bearings inserted into cold forged and CNC linkages. All Enduro bearings supplied with Marin full suspension frames carry a lifetime warranty.
Stealth Dropper Seatpost Routing
Hidden internal routing for dropper seatposts, with remote activation. Internal routing is cleaner, reducing the amount of external cabling for a cleaner look and less possibility of cable snags.
Suspension Sag Indicator
An integrated sag indicator on full-suspension carbon-fiber bikes that simplifies suspension-sag setup, allowing adjustment right from the saddle. The indicator allows the rider to easily see when the rear shock is set up within the correct range of 25-30% sag. Correct set-up is crtitical to suspension performance. Too little sag and the bike will not react to terrain correctly, too much sag and there will be reduced suspension performance and risk of damage to the frame on large impact.
Tapered Head Tube
As bicycle forks evolved, the diameter of the "steerer tube" of a fork, and the "head tube" of the frame (which houses the steerer tube and headset) have steadily increased. Years ago, forks were fairly standard at a 1" steerer diameter. This increase to 1-1/8" (also known as OS) in the 90's, and even 1-1/4" and 1.5" sizes became some what common. In particular, 1.5" was used on Freeride or downhill frames due to the inherent increase in strength that comes from the larger diameter. But there were some problems, 1.5" forks required very large head tubes, and were heavy. As the sizes evolved, it was realized that using a tapered steerer tube would offer up the best of both worlds. Marin uses tapered forks that have a 1.5" lower diameter, but then taper to a 1-1/8" upper diameter. This reduces weight, but keeps very high strength where it's needed, at the base of the steerer tube, where it meets the fork crown. This type of tapered fork greatly increases stiffness and strength, while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Unlike maky other companies, if a Marin bike has a tapered head tube, it also has a tapered fork, to take maximum advantage of the technology.
